An arid river valley is the starting point of this trek, with which we will discover the small villages of Casalvecchio and Savoca, both perched on two hills overlooking the green Valle D'Agrò on one side, rich in carob trees, fig trees and willows , almond trees, prickly pears and vines while on the opposite side they overlook the Ionian Sea.
The church of San Pietro e Paolo, an example of Norman Arab art, and the mother church of Savoca with frescoes from the Byzantine era, are two of the cultural jewels that we will see during the three hours of this trek.
As soon as we begin a climb of an hour and a half on a dirt road overlooking the Agro valley, the first village we will encounter will be Casalvecchio, a village of a few hundred people off the beaten path of mass tourism, where we will stop in a shop for a taste of cheeses and cured meats.
After a break we will resume the road, this time downhill, which will lead us to Savoca, where we will visit the mother church and finally we will sit down to rest at the Vitelli bar, used by Francis Ford Coppola as a location in the film The Godfather.
Upon request, transfers are available to and from the booked holiday home to the meeting point to start the tour.
